Congratulations to our Hurricanes boys who are representing the ACT in the U12 School Sport championships in Melbourne.
Well done Justin, Charlie, Riley, Braidyn and Jason!
Our Mozzies Teeball team is specially designed for boys and girls from kindy to year 2. Teeball introduces kids to softball in a fun, non-competitive way and our coaches are older Hurricanes players who have a great rapport with the little ones. We understand it can be tricky to make training immediately after school and that kids learn best if they can put into practice something they've just learned. With that in mind, we train before our games on Saturday morning at 8:30am for a 9am game that lasts just under an hour.
The Comets are a senior softball team for boys and girls in years 5 and 6. In this age group, a pitcher is used and there are fewer modified rules so that players progress their softball skills. Some boys and girls in this age group will start to participate in U13 Canberra teams and may travel to local tournaments. Players new to softball are always welcome because our focus is on development while having fun. Our coaches have over 30 years softball experience, including state representation. Games start at 9am on Saturday mornings and run for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Hurricanes Spitfires - NEW!
The Spitfires will play in an exciting new age division within the Northside Morning Competition that offers a development pathway for boys and girls in years 7 & 8. Players in this age division will typically start to consolidate their skills and may choose particular positions to focus on such as pitcher or catcher or any of the other fielding positions. Our training programs cater to new players but also offer specific development opportunities to those players who wish to specialise. Games start at 10:30am on Saturday mornings and run for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Hurricanes Black Hawks - NEW!
Another fantastic edition to the softball line up for 2017 is the introduction of a boys U15 fastpitch competition as part of the Fastpitch Softball League. Fastpitch is typically played in club and association competitions and is the traditional basis for elite state, national, and international championships and events.
This is a terrific opportunity for boys who want to take their game further and we often see boys in this age group selected for U15 Canberra teams and sometimes, U17 state teams. Coaches at this level are former international players, state players and state coaches and particular emphasis is placed on helping these players to challenge themselves and perform at their best. Games will be at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoons so opportunity exists for boys who play in the Spitfires to also play for the Black Hawks.
Whatever your skill level or age, we've got a team for you.
