There are a lot of ways you can get involved, but a few examples include BBQ/canteen coordinator, fundraising coordinator, equipment coordinator, registration coordinator, referee liaison and team manager.

If you are interested, please contact the Junior Coordinator:

MULAX iPlayLax Programs 2018

Thanks to all of the parents that we have spoken to over the past week, we certainly appreciate your feedback.  Based on your feedback, the club has decided to run a 6 week iPlay Lax program on Sunday mornings.  The program will be run by Duncan McKenzie (who you may be familiar with from the Brunswick schools program).  The program is suitable for boys and girls of all levels of experience including new players and those that have participated in previous iPlay Lax programs.

We will run a second program after the mid-year school holidays.

Season 2018 – Brunswick Program – Under 13 and under 15 boys

Throughout the season, training for both teams will be on Thursdays (starting at 5pm). U13 training typically runs for 1 hour finishing at 6:00pm with the older teams training until 6:30pm. Each grade trains in their own age group with occasional group training so that kids can interact across the grades. These sessions are always planned around the youngest grades to ensure we always have a safe and enjoyable environment.

All training for all grades is held at the Western Oval on Park Street in Brunswick (Google maps link).

The club is fortunate to have magnificent lighting which enables our coaches to hold high quality teaching and skills sessions. Importantly the high quality lights create a safe training environment for all participants.

The fixture for the season is available on the Lacrosse Victoria website (http://lacrossevictoria.com.au/fixtures-results/)

Games are also played at the Western Oval and with a standard Lacrosse field measuring 100m x 55m, we are fortunate to be able to fit two fields on the oval.  All home games are played at Park Street, so through a standard 16 week season we normally have 8 home games.  Being an inner suburbs club we are quite central to most of the 15 clubs in Melbourne which makes it quite easy to get to opposition grounds.

Season 2018 – Training – Melbourne High School Program

Melbourne High School teams will continue to train at Melbourne High School on Tuesday and Thursday mornings starting at 7:30am.

In the lead up to the start of the season, there will also be training Saturday morning at the Western Oval (Google maps link).

The fixture for the season is available on the Lacrosse Victoria website (http://lacrossevictoria.com.au/fixtures-results/)

General information

The club is growing and is in an exciting phase currently with a strong focus on both girls and boys under 11 and 13 recruiting and development. With the recent success in promoting and running the iPlayLax program, we are especially excited in the strong numbers of girls that have been introduced to the club.  The club currently has two senior women’s and two senior men’s teams that offer players a broad range of competition depending on a players ability. We often have junior players who have developed their skills and confidence that play seniors once they get to U17 level and even some at U15’s. Typically it is our senior women that coach our junior girl’s teams and the men’s player coaching the boys.  As junior coordinator of the club my role to ensure all junior players have a safe, fun, positive and inclusive environment whilst learning the sport of Lacrosse.

Season dates

Typically the first round of our junior season is the first weekend in second term of school.  The season finishes in late August with finals for U13, U15 and U17 in early September.

The under 11 competitions are broken down into two shorter seasons of 6 weeks with a lightening carnival at the end of each.  The lightening carnival is held at one venue where each team plays 3 mini games throughout the morning and the top two ranked teams play in a final.  Importantly, there are three grades based on skill level where clubs can nominate based on the experience and age of their players. The two mini seasons are run over the same period as mentioned above starting in April.

Under 11 Teams

Both girls and boys play modcrosse as a non-contact introductory version of the game similar to what we have played during our iPlayLax programs.  The field is approximately 50m in length which is half the length of a normal Lacrosse field to accommodate younger players.

•Girl’s teams – women’s Lacrosse is traditionally played on Sunday’s during the regular season. U11 games start at 9am and are approximately 1 hour in duration.  Games are broken down into four 12 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.

•Boy’s teams – men’s Lacrosse is played on Saturday’s during the regular season.  The game times and structure is the same as for the girls.

Under 13 Teams

Both girls and boys play regular Lacrosse with modified rules to allow players to build confidence and develop their playing skills. U13’s play on a standard Lacrosse field which is 100m in length as well they play with a real Lacrosse ball which requires protective equipment to ensure player safety.  Playing equipment at U13 level is provided by the club as part of the annual fees.  Mouth guards are also a requirement at this level.

•Girl’s teams – women’s Lacrosse is played on Sunday’s during the regular season. U13 games start at 9am and are just over 1 hour in duration.  Games are broken down into four 15 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.

•Boy’s teams – men’s Lacrosse is played on Saturday’s during the regular season.  Games are broken down into four 15 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.

Under 15 Teams

Both girls and boys play regular Lacrosse with minimal modified rules to allow players to build confidence and develop their playing skills. U15’s play on a standard Lacrosse field which is 100m in length as well they play with a real Lacrosse ball which requires protective equipment to ensure player safety.  Mouth guards are also a requirement at this level.

•Girl’s teams – women’s Lacrosse is played on Sunday’s during the regular season. U15 games start at 10am and are just over 1 hour in duration.  Games are broken down into four 15 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.

•Boy’s teams – men’s Lacrosse is played on Saturday’s during the regular season.  Games are broken down into four 15 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.

Under 17 Teams

Both girls and boys play regular Lacrosse with minimal modified rules to allow players to build confidence and develop their playing skills. U15’s play on a standard Lacrosse field which is 100m in length as well they play with a real Lacrosse ball which requires protective equipment to ensure player safety.  Mouth guards are also a requirement at this level.

•Girl’s teams – women’s Lacrosse is played on Sunday’s during the regular season. U17 games start at 10:30am and are just over 1 hour in duration.  Games are broken down into four 15 minute quarters with short breaks between each quarter.
