Probably the less said about this match the better. The Rams suffered a massive 171 point loss in a result reminiscent of the bad old days of travelling to Weldon Oval. It has to be said that Penrith came up against an unbeaten side with a huge percentage, so it was not to be unexpected that it was going to be one enormous task to match the Wolves on their home ground.

A seven goal opening term opened the floodgates for a 16 goal Manly first half. To the Rams' credit they were able to stem the avalanche somewhat in the second half, whilst managing their sole goal themselves, courtesy of Under 18s youngster James Devlin.

The side battled on bravely all day in the face of overwhelming odds, led by the classy Dale Chivas and the warrior David Bradley. Others to do well were the first year players James Yates, Ryan Boyd and Kavera Carr.

A remarkable, and even, first half saw a combined score of 21.1 at half time, with Manly leading by a bare five points.

The Rams would have been looking at this game for a win and a challenging second half faced them if they wanted to come away from Weldon with the points.

The game took on a completely different tone after half-time, with both defences stepping up and the previous free scoring coming to a grinding halt.

A three goal to none third quarter set up what was a tight Penrith victory, with both sides battling to score a major in the final term.

It was a good tough encounter for a Rams side which needed some hard football under their belts.

Sunday saw the Rams Third Grade take on local rivals Holroyd-Parramatta at Greygums.

In a low-scoring first half it was the Rams who took the honours, going into the break with a solid 21 point lead.

The Goannas challenged in the third term but the Rams were equal to the task and then solidified their superiority in the final quarter.

Jason Bradley and Justin Weller both scored three goals while Theo Paneras and long-time Ram Luke Donoghue were the side's best.
