2022 Season Welcome

Welcome to the 2022 Football Season. We hope that your child has fun and enjoys the games and training sessions during 2022. To keep in touch with whats happening in the club make sure you download the free club App and like the club page on facebook.

Dates

Training will begin on Thursday 22nd April.  The first game is on Saturday 8th May.  Carnival dates for rep teams (drawn predominantly from Friday night YDP squads) are still to be announced.

Teams

Team and player lists will be released on the club website when finalised. The committee has made a decision that one of the key goals for each age group is the evenness of the teams. During the first two rounds of games committee members will monitor teams and if required may have to adjust a few teams to ensure the competition is as even as possible.

The age groups and game times are:

Under 6 - 8.45am

Under 7 - 9.40am

Under 8/9 - 8.45am

Under 10/11 - 9.40am

U12+ - 10.45am

MiniRoos Kickoff Program - 10 am

Players must be at the fields 20 minutes prior to game times ready to play. Games start on time as we have multiple games on each field. If you are not able to make a game please notify your childs team manager.

Wet Weather

The club wet weather policy is the same as last season and is based on FFA policy and our competition rules. If it is raining or has rained, the fields will be inspected at 6 am on Saturday morning. If the grounds are deemed unsafe to play on the games will be cancelled. Notification of cancellation will be on the facebook page and via the APP by 7am. Last year we played on three wet Saturdays – there were no games cancelled. Yes – it was cold for the parents but the kids loved it. So buy a poncho and parka and get prepared for some wet Saturdays. The FFA, Football QLD and club preference is to play unless conditions are unsafe.

Team Managers

We would like to thank all those parents who have already agreed to be Team Managers this year. Each Saturday the manager’s role includes making sure all the kids are on time, on the right field and ready to play at the nominated time. In the U9’s and younger age groups, Managers are also encouraged to be on the field and give some guidance to the young players. Once again this year we will be doing up a Managers pack which will help you in this role. It is not difficult, you don’t knowledge of soccer and the children respond well to positive cheerful encouragement.

This year Football Queensland requires all team managers and volunteers to be registered throught www.playfootball.com.au as well as apply for a Blue Card, then notify the club so we can approve your application.

MiniRoos Kickoff Program

In 2022 the club will be running the Aldi Mini-Roos program on Saturday mornings from 10am. Mini-Roos start at 10 am on the small fields in front of the canteen and runs for 30 to 45 minutes. We ask that all non- squirts be kept off the fields. The Mini-Roos Coordinator  will require help during the drills and games so jump in and help if needed.

Volunteer Assistance

The 2022 committee is listed on the bottom of this email. The vast majority of members now have children playing in the older age groups and even other sports. We really need some parents from the Under 6, Under 7 and Under 10 age groups to begin to explore holding committee positions. If anyone can help, we will give them as much assistance as possible. Most of us do not have a background in soccer, we are helping because our children are playing. Anyone (male/female) can help with training or running the club. It is not difficult and can be very rewarding. Any assistance is appreciated.

Thursday Training – 4pm to 5pm.

Thursday training is the general training open to all players with the exception of Mini Roos. Mini Roos do not train during the week. Training is based on the playing age groups. We need volunteers to help in the Under 6, Under 7 and Under 9 training.

We are following the FFA training modules which are clear, easy to understand and the kids enjoy. Time TBA. All players require shinpads and appropriate sport outfits. Players do not need to wear their game day shirts.

Friday night YDP Training

Friday night training is conducted at the soccer fields from 4-5.30pm. It is for players in the U8/U9 age group upwards. It is for players who wish to develop their skills through extra training. There is a cost of the Friday training program. It is $50 for a player.

Players who wish to do Friday training should turn up on Friday where a sign-on form will be circulated.

Saturday Morning Set-Up

Each game day morning the fields need to be set up for play. This involves putting up the goals and corner and half way flags. Thank you to all the people who have offered to help. A volunteers a roster is being drawn up and it is anticipated that you may only be required every 3rd Saturday.
