Round 13 - 31st July 2016

U10's v Wandin

In sunny conditions on top of the mountain, the Young Bloods took on the Wandin Bulldogs in our last game of the season.

As we have done all season, the team got off to great start led by Captain of the Day and 50 gamer Ned Ford who along with Blair Wilson were dominating the play early. I was super happy for Bon Sullivan when he snapped truly to kick his first goal for the season and very proud of him moments later when he unselfishly passed off the ball yet again.  It was also great to see Alex Higgs going back and kicking a set shot goal after being rewarded with a free kick for putting his head over the footy.
The second quarter belonged to Max Monkhorst who was on fire up forward kicking two great goals for the quarter. Bailey Laurence was having an impressive quarter of footy imposing himself on the contest whilst onballers Isaac Tonkin and Zac Seal were working hard.
The third quarter was a fairly even contest with some good team work on display by the Young Bloods.. Grace Belloni was doing a fantastic job in the Ruck and Aden Bates was doing a job getting the ball going in our direction. Our only goal for the quarter came courtesy of a clever snap by Ned Ford that sailed over the goal umpires head.
The last quarter was a great quarter of footy for the young bloods.  The run and carry through the middle of the ground was super impressive as was the hand-balling and team work. Thomas P was doing a great job up forward and Jesse Selby was getting involved in the play. It was good to see both Ned and Bon kicking their second goals  for the game and I was wrapped for Birthday Boy Campbell Hutchin snapped truly to give himself a well deserved birthday present.
Our Young Bloods should be proud of their achievements this season. As a group they have showed enormous potential and have played some super impressive football which has made us all proud.
I will speak more on presnetation night but for now I would like to thank all the parents and players for their contributions this season to this great team and this great club.  I would particularly like to thank Liam Smith for his efforts as Team Manager this season, Sasha Sullivan for being a great trainer both for the under 10's and under 12's, Vanessa Bradford for taking great photos every week and of course big Leroy and Ash Spurrel for all their match day and training support..
It's been a great season and already looking forward to season 2017.
