Round 15 match reports by Stephen Marson
Under 19’s:
Northcote Park were unable to stick with Bundoora after quarter time, going down to the Bulls by 46 points.
The scores were level on quarter time as goals to Nathan Addamo and Paul Steinicke saw the Cougars get off to a promising start.
It was tough work however from that moment onwards, as the Cougars only managed another four goals for the game, as Bundoora slammed on 12 majors after the first break to guide themselves to a well earned victory.
Reserves:
Northcote Park booted 28 goals to three in a one-sided affair, as they toppled Bundoora by 153 points.
Bundoora were held goalless to half time by a strong Cougars defence, and in kicking nine goals of their own, Northcote Park almost had the game won by the main break.
19 goals after half time saw the Cougars blow out the margin to over 150 points, as this massive win is a huge step to keeping the side in the finals positions.
Rob Chadwick finished with eight goals, Aaron Di Matteo added five, and Ben Callahan three.
Special mention to Ross Botoulas and Tyson Old for backing up and filling in for the reserves, and both managing to grab a goal!
Seniors:
Bundoora led from start to finish in a disappointing result for the Cougars.
Four goals in a row from the home side saw Northcote Park having to chase the game from the word go. The Bulls took a four-goal advantage into half time, and were looking the better side.
Northcote Park managed to trim the lead to 22 points by three quarter time, and were looking to make a run during the final quarter.
Goals to Gerard Sutton, Luke Svarc and Wayne Schultz all inside the first four minutes of the final term had the Cougars down only four points, and right back into the contest.
Unfortunately for Northcote Park, Bundoora were able to get a couple goals back against the early run of play, and held on for a 22-point win.
On a special note, congratulations to Dave Ienco on playing his 250th game for the almighty Cougars in the big reserves win against Bundoora, fantastic effort Weasel!
