2014 GRAND FINAL BREAKFAST

Once again we have organised an all star cast to entertain us at the annual Grand Final Breakfast. UNI JUST A BIT TOO GOOD - U19S WIN AGAIN.

Neither could get over the line but a much improved effort from the seniors although the reserves were blown away. Fox footy came to Princes park last night where 40 Haileybury Footballers & 30 U19s players came together for training lead by Dermot Brereton, Barry Hall and Cam Moonie. The cameras were rolling and the result will be shown on Fox Footy either this Thursday (17th) or the following Thursday. FOX FOOTY COMES TO PRINCES PARK ON TUESDAY EVENING

RESERVES THE ONLY HIGHLIGHT

ST KEVINS TOO GOOD IN THE WET

St Kevins gave Old Haileybury a lesson in wet weather football at Glen Iris. The reserves were outclassed by a slick St Kevins also although a much better effort this week. The 3rds were also outclassed at Princes Park by a quality St Kevins outfit. The hightlight of the day was a strong win to the Under 19s who came home strongly to beat Collegians at home. SENIORS REGISTER FIRST WIN

The Seniors won an entertaining match at Princes Park against pretty good opposition for Discos 350th game. After a slow start we began to get our game going and although behind at half time we did run away in the last quarter. It was a fitting win for Disco's 350th game. The reserves were well beaten on the day. The Haileybury 1st XVIII were competitive all day but beaten by St Kevins.more

Mark "Disco" Seccull reaches another milestone and club record when he plays his 350th game against AJAX at Princes Park on Saturday. Whats more he is still going strong evidenced by being voted runner up in the B & F last year and already getting some votes in 2014. Mark also put his hand up to be President in order to ensure the club is successful off the field as well as on the field.more

LITTLE JOY - LUCKY ITS ONLY ROUND 1

Brought to you by Astoria Honda -We were unable to win this weekend in a disappointing start. However, all is not lost as there were good signs all round. The seniors were very good at times but lacked concentration at times and lost by 20. Reserves were up against a pretty good side and went down fighting. The U19s put up a good first effort @ Peninsula but ran out of gas in the second half.more

With one of the best training and preseason jumper presentation evenings we have ever had we feel that each team has had one of its best preseason preparations for many years. We are not sure how we will go because we dont know what the oppositon will hit us with but we do know that every player will be well prepared and giving it all whether it be in the U19s, 3rds, 2nds or seniors.more

VAFA IS STILL NO 1 COMMUNITY FOOTBALL COMPETITION

Last Saturday at Visy Park the Victorian Football League ran a series of games for the 5 metro district leagues and the VAFA. The VAFA was ranked 1 and the Eastern Football League was ranked 2. They played the last game of the day and VAFA won by 46 points after a close contest until 3/4 time. No Haileybury representation but proved we are playing in the very best competition outside AFL & VFL.more

STEVE SAUSAGE MARSHALL LAUNCHES OLD HAILEYBURY SEASON

The 2014 Season was launched on Friday March 28 at the Rooftop Bar of the Richmond Club Hotel. Run by the Past Players Association and compared by our own Steve Marshall it was not a night to be missed. Plenty of supporters and past players all eager to hear how the mighty bloods might go this year. The answer is no one really knows but we are going to give it a red hot go. MATTHEW LLOYD LAUNCHES HAILEYBURY SCHOOL FOOTBALL SEASON

David Lappage and Matthew Lloyd launched the Haileybury School Football season in syle in front of 150 players, parents and friends at Fisher oval Keysborough on Wednesday evening. Lappa outlined what an honour it is to pull on a magenta and black jumper and the responsibility that goes with it. Matthew LLoyd backed him up as did two Haileyburians who have been drafted in recent years.more

OLD HAILEYBURIANS CRICKET TEAM WINS FLAG

All Members, Players, Supporters and Committee of Old Haileyburians Amateur Football Club congratulate the Old Haileyburians Cricket Team for winning this years premiership in Div 2 and being promoted to Div 1 for 2014/15. They comfortably defeated Old Brighton despite batting second. There has always been a strong bond between the football and cricket clubs so it is great to see success.more

VALE - FRANK NORTHCOTT

The Old Haileyburians Amateur Football Club are saddened to learn of the passing of Frank Northcott, aged 96. Frank served the school for 48 years from 1935-1982, and was Vice Principal from 1961 – 1982. Frank devoted a large portion of his life to the school. Frank was also a life long follower of the Old Haileybury Amateur Football Club and was a patron of the club for many years.more

TWO MORE AFL HAILEYBURIANS

Two 2013 Haileyburians were drafted into the AFL at the recent draft. PETER GLEADHILL TAKES OUT TOM FISHER

Peter Gleadhill has won the Tom Fisher award for the Best and Fairest in 2013. In a close vote, he outpolled Mark Seccull and Michael Stowe, capping off a fine year for the club's co-captain. SENIORS RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

The Seniors bounced back into the winners stall with a convincing win over Caulfield Grammarians. The Ressies were gallant in defeat while an undermanned U/19s were defeated by Therry Penola. SOLID EFFORTS BUT NO CHOCOLATES

Round 15 produced some good footy but unfortunately no winning results. Old Melburnians, who are top four side in both seniors and Reserves, proved too good on the day, but we took it right up to them. The U/19s were undermanned and went down to Old Westbourne. ON FIELD DISAPPOINT

Pitch played his 200th game for the club on the weekend and while the Ressies went down, they did Pitch proud. The seniors came up against a stronger Trinity while the Thirds went down narrowly. The School First XVIII were defeated by Melbourne Grammarmore

TWO BIG MILESTONES - PANDA AND WEEKESY

This is another milestone round with club legend Luke "Panda" Pitcher playing his 200th game for the club. Luke becomes a Life Member in recognition of his enormous contribution to the club.Adam Weekes plays game number 50 for the club. It feels like Weekesy has been around for years he has slotted in so well. He is having a fantastic year on the paddock, steering the defences.more

TRINITY AT HOME - U19'S TO LATROBE UNI

This weekend we host Trinity at Princes Park for the Seniors and Reserves and McKinnon for the Thirds. The U/19s travel to La Trobe Uni for an early start of 9.20am. The Senior sides will be looking to get back amongst the winners after a couple of losses. Finals football is probably beyond us but pride should take us a long way.more

A WET AND DIFFICULT ROUND

In “traditional” winter conditions, the Seniors went down to a determined Fitzroy outfit on Saturday. The Reserves and U/19s were both in the contest all day to just miss the chocolates. The School First XVIII went down to Geelong Grammar. Well at least the social functions went off well - a big past players lunch and a players "Full Moon Party" after the game.more

U19's TO BUNDOORA, FITZROY AND A BIG LUNCH

This week the Under 19's have to travel to Old Paradians at Bundoora but are the favourites - good luck. The Seniors, Reserves and 3rds are all looking to get back on the winning list against Fitzroy at home. The Ball is on again at kooyong LTC. So it is time to once again frock up. The theme this year is "Formal with a touch of Hollywood". As we know, it is a brilliant venue, with fine food and ambience. OLD IVANHOE AND AJAX - HOME AND AWAY

This weekend the Senior sides play AJAX while the U/19s are hosting Old Ivanhoe at Princes Park. The "ones" sit outside the four and a win on the weekend would go a long way to securing finals action. AJAX are a game behind but with a better percent. So this is one of a few 8 pointers at the sharp end of the season.

SENIORS HAVE A BIG WIN

Those who missed Fridays Lunch missed a great day and a big build up to this game. It was a great win for the seniors with Colesy being the hero in a nail biter. After leading for most of the day, it took a goal with a minute to go to secure victory, keeping our final hopes alive. Two wins from the four games in which the magenta and black were represented. The Seniors came out on top in a tough encounter with Caulfield, while the Thirds got the chocolates by the barest of margins against Uni Blues. The Ressies played well but inaccuracy cost them, while the U/19s paid the price for a slow start. A great Lunch and a few stories set the tone for the day at home.more

We are still training at Haileybury Keysborough on Tuesday March 5 but have the opportunity this week to train at McKinnon on Wednesday evening where the ground looks as good as it ever has. SORRENTO TRAINING CAMP A GREAT SUCCESS

Forty odd of the keenest went to Sorrento to attend the Langford Jones Homes training camp. The camp had everything - some fitness work, some teamwork, a bit of clear thinking, some navigation work, some night footy at the Conti and a bit of discipline and harsh treatment in the form of an early Sunday morning run. Early days but so far so good for a 2013 (every team looks good in Feb).more

The AGM is finished and a new committee elected under President Hicks. Loads of work to do off field to ensure the club progresses socially, financially and can reach its goals on field. The Haileybury School 1st XVIII finished 3rd in this years APS football competition. The competition was won by StKevins with 9 wins out of 10, Brighton with 8 wins 1 draw and Haileybury with 7 wins. Coach David Lappage was pleased with the development of the team through the year and is looking forward to next year. Matthew Lloyd assisted Lappa throughout the year.more
