2012 - A NEW ERA & THE OLD ERA NOTED WITHIN

2012 is a new era for the Dolphins. All Club player records are now updated and every player who has played a game for the Dolphins is listed within, so too are the number of tries, goals and points scored and the teams in which the games were played. (Refer - More Menus ... player records). You can plainly see, that Jason Rixon 200 games, has played the most games for the Dolphins since it's inception in 1993 and that Steve Parr the only player to have amassed over 500 points for the club. A number of players are hot on their heels, so why not ... take a look!

2012, as I mentioned will be a new era for the Dolphins. The Clubhouse and Deck are all up and in place and the Kawana Juniors, now securing the other end of he building. This is a big plus for the Dolphins as a whole. Greg Ingram, is now the Club President, with Mark Cohen, still his right hand man, now as Secretary and Gwen Mott, re-elected as Treasurer. Noel Warner is the Registrar and the same faces of 2011 all remain on the new committee, with the exception of Steve Hamilton, who has decided just to assist the playing staff.

Rob Brough has been appointed Head Coach, after a 3 year layoff from local footy, but still coaching the Aust. Ladies teams and the successful Souths Logan Ladies during that time.

Chris Lloyd is Reserve Grade Coach, Sam Elvy 18s and the C Grade Coach is Dallas Loomes, all these boys returning again from 2011.

A number of new and old players are expected to play and or return to the club for 2012 and the place is buzzing. A friendly early, not to be confused with pre-season has already commenced, with over 30 in attendance for the past 3 Thursday nights. Another Sausage Sizzle is planned for next Thursday after training at 8pm. See you on the 24th.

cheers

Mark Cohen                                                                                                    Secretary

GRAND FINAL - GO THE DOLPHINS

Congratulations to both Reserve Grade and 18s for making this Saturday's Grand Final, the first ever at the new Stockland Park Stadium. 18s have got their act togeter, big time and hope that they can carry on wth that momentum, for the big 1. 18s will be the Curtain-raiser for the A Grade Grand Final, with the Reserve Grade kicking off at 1.40pm before the 18s as mentioned, who play at 3.30pm.

The Big Screen will be set up, so it will be an awesome experience for both our teams. Reserve Grade have already created club history, by becoming the first Kawana Reserve Grade team to contest the Grand Final. In fact 2 teams into the Grand Final is of course a great feat, although it is not the first time. Kawana has been in only 2 A Grade Grand Finals, 1995 and 2001, but it was1995 that the Dolphins took out the double. Hopefully, Saturday will see another double, with club celebrations upstairs in our club, following the 18s game.

Best of luck to both teams.

Tickets now on Sale for the Annual Presentation Dinner, a 2 course, main and dessert at the Caloundra RSL, now changed to Friday, 23 September, 2011 at 7pm.

Contact Mark Cohen 04 8888 4575 for tickets. Also available on Saturday, following the Grnd Finals.

ROUND 1 DOLPHINS V BRIBIE WARRIGALS

Kawana Dolphins made heavy work of defeating season new-comers, the Bribie Island Warrigals to kick off the 2011 Season with a win. The game was as tough as they come, with the highly talented Dolphins, failing to keep control of the ball with vital passes going to ground and tries going begging. Nevertheless, the team came away with a win. Final Score Kawana 18 Bribie 14.

Reserve Grade had a big win as to did the depleted Under 18s, both recording big Scores. Off to Caloundra for the next clash.

2011 MASTERS COMPETITION

Kawana Junior Rugby League have entered their Masters Team into the massive Gold Coast Masters Carnival which is being held at Runaway Bay from the 9th - 12th of March 2011. We are looking for players (over 35) who are interested in joining our team.

The date of the carnival is Wednesday 9th March to Saturday 12th March 2011.  Teams assemble on the Wednesday and complete team registration in the afternoon.  That night we hold the Welcome Dinner (a meal voucher and two drink vouchers for 23 people are included in your registration fee).  Each team plays 2 games on Thursday, 2 games on Friday and 1 game on Saturday.  Note, the games are only 2 x 15 minute halves.  Thursday and Friday nights are free and then we have the Presentation Dinner on Saturday night  (again,  a meal voucher and two drink vouchers for 23 people are included in your registration fee).  On the Thursday and Friday, we try to schedule your two games within a couple of hours so that you are not waiting at the venue all day.

Each team usually brings their own trainers or strappers but to ensure player safety, we have an accredited First Aid Officer at every field.  We also have accredited referees and touch judges for every game.

Players may wear red or yellow shorts for additional safety – the details are in the official Masters Rules which are attached.  We then group teams in pools so that they play against teams with similar numbers of coloured shorts.  Coloured shorts are optional and you may elect to play in normal shorts.  Note – your regular shorts colour can’t be red or yellow.

Insurance is included for each player in your registration fee, but please note – it is a modified policy designed for Masters only and does not include loss of income benefits for instance.  Please advise all of your players of this and encourage them to take out top cover private medical insurance if they don’t have it already.

Your Registration Fee covers 23 people – 20 players and 3 officials – but if you are bringing a bigger party than that, just add $78 per extra player when paying your fee.  Many teams bring more than 23, including a lot of wives, partners, kids etc.  The event is very family-friendly.

There is plenty of other information on the official Masters website – www.arlmasters.com.au

To book your spot in the team, please get in contact with our Team Manager Wes Garland on 0408 935556 or diwes@bigpond.net.au Get in quick to secure your spot for a fantastic weekend of footy and fun!
