DANIEL HOLDSWORTH SIGNS WITH THE DOGS

The Mitsubishi Electric Bulldogs have agreed to a two-year contract with Dragons goal-kicking five-eighth Daniel Holdsworth. Holdsworth was given permission by the Dragons to negotiate with the Bulldogs before the June 30 anti-tampering deadline.

Commenting on the signing, Bulldogs coach Steve Folkes said, "Daniel has had limited opportunities at the Dragons and we think he can provide us with the skills that we'll need next year. He has a good kicking game and nice hands. He should benefit from playing behind a Bulldogs pack that includes Roy Asotasi, Willie Mason, Mark O'Meley, Andrew Ryan and Sonny Bill Williams.

Holdsworth, 21, was born at Tweed Heads but grew up in Perth, Western Australia where he played all his junior football at North Beach Rugby League Club.

He represented Western Australia in rugby league at U15 and U18 levels and was a member of the 2001 Australian schoolboys side.

Holdsworth had two years with Penrith (2002-3) before moving to the Dragons in 2004. He played three first grade games for the Dragons last year and has played two more this season.
