Players Code of Behaviour

Players for Heat Basketball are expected to act in accordance with the following code of conduct. It includes expected behaviour detailed in the Gold Coast Region Code of Conduct.

  1. Play by the rules
  2. Treat all participants, as you would like to be treated. Respect the rights, dignity and worth of all participants regardless of their sex, disability, race, colour, age, and religion, national or ethnic origin.
  3. Work equally hard for yourself and/or team. Your team’s performance will benefit, as will you.
  4. Be a good sport. Applaud all good plays whether your team or the opposition makes them.
  5. Cooperate with your coach, team-mates and opponents. Without them there would be no competition.
  6. Participate for your own enjoyment and benefit, not just to please parents and coaches.
  7. Do not possess or use prohibited drugs or participate in any other practices prohibited by the polices published by Basketball Australia.
  8. Never Argue with an official. If you disagree, have your captain, coach or manager approach the official during a break or after the competition.
  9. Control your temper
    -     Do not abuse, threaten or intimidate.
    -         
    An event or competition official
    -         
    A selector, coach, manager or other squad official; or
    -         
    Any other participants.
  10. Do not use crude or abusive language or gestures towards an official or any other person present at the event or competition.
  11. Do not do anything which adversely affects or reflects on or discredits Basketball as a sport generally, Basketball Australia, Basketball Queensland, Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association, the squad, competition, tournament, sponsor, official supplier or licensee, including without limitation, any illegal act or any act of dishonesty or fraud at any time.
  12. Do not bet  on the outcome or any other aspect of the event and/or competition.
  13. Do not fix or throw an event or competition in attempt to achieve a manufactured outcome to an event or competition, or otherwise influence inappropriately the outcome of any other aspects of an event or competition.
  14. Do not seek or accept a bribe or other benefit to do anything mentioned in paragraph 13.
  15. Report immediately to Gold Coast City Regional Basketball Association any offer of a bribe or other benefit to do anything mentioned in paragraph 13 or any attempt by any other person to do anything mentioned in paragraph 13 or 14.
