Greater Southern Region Stingrays and Bidgee trial in Canberra cancelled

In light of the extreme heat predicted for tomorrow in Canberra and keeping in line with the CRL and NRL Heat Guidelines, the Regions of Greater Southern and Bidgee have cancelled trials scheduled at Kippax Oval in Canberra for player safety.

Consultation has been undertaken with all Stakeholders and this solution is best to accommodate parents and players needs including their travel arrangements.

Kevin Felgate of the Greater Southern Region has expressed his disappointment but highlights the necessity of player welfare. “With the likely heatwave predicted for Saturday and even with extra and extended drink breaks, I feel competing would not be the best for our players. Naturally their welfare must take precedent. We will be working later this afternoon on an alternate trial scheduled for next week and details will be posted on Team Apps, websites and social media once confirmed.”

Matches were scheduled for 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm in the Under 16 and Under 18 age group.
