U14/15 and Ladies League Tag Country Championship Finals in Cessnock this weekend

Cessnock Sportsground will host a festival of football this weekend with the AAMI U14/15 Country Championship and Ladies League Tag Finals taking place on Saturday, 2nd July.

After successful preliminary matches in Wagga Wagga and Forster-Tuncurry, the best U14/15 Group sides from New South Wales and Victoria will go head-to-head for the title of ‘Country Champions’ in three divisions (Cup, Plate and Trophy); along with the Ladies League Tag Country Championship Final and a NSW Sydney Metropolitan Women’s Rugby League match being played on the day.

The U14/15’s Country Championship Finals will see 8 NSW Regional Groups represented, along with Victoria (VRL) whose participation in the Championships provides their players with an opportunity to play Representative football against quality opposition, whilst developing their skills and providing a pathway across Rugby League.

The Ladies League Tag Country Championship Final will see the East Coast Dolphins and Central Coast Centurions go head-to-head for the inaugural title after taking out their respective Semi-Finals in Dubbo.

The Central Coast scored a gripping last minute 14-11 win over the Greater Northern Tigers to book their place in the final, with the Dolphins defeating the Greater Southern Stars 18-10.

The Ladies League Tag Final will take place in Cessnock after the original match was rescheduled due to bad weather.

There will be a second ladies match played on the day, with the Berkeley Vale Panthers taking on the Hunter Stars in Round 10 of the NSW Sydney Metropolitan Women’s Rugby League.
