At Ces Glenholmes Oval, the hosts were the first on the board Ryan Hodgson after just three minutes.
Chad Lisch missed the conversion and the score remained 4-nil.
It didn’t take long for the Blacks to hit back, because in the ninth minute, Deejay Harris set up Will Homer, who scored under the sticks.
Harris converted and Port led 6-4.
But the lead was short lived, as the Gorillas scored their second try of the day in the 14th minute.
A Josh Kent bomb was spilled by Port and regathered by lock Mark Walsh, who crossed the line to score.
Lisch added the extras and the hosts led 10-6, which is how it remained until half-time.
The visitors regained the lead six minutes into the second stanza when Hori Leef, in his first game for the Blacks, crashed over under the posts, before Harris added the easy extras.
As the tit-for-tat game would have it, Warilla was next to score, through centre Blake Colgan.
Lisch again missed the kick but Warilla led 14-12 with 30 minutes to play.
Port dug deep, seeking to regain the lead and with a litte over 10 minute remaining, they had their try.
Half Harris kicked early in the tackle count, before the ball sat up for a chasing Tevita Cavora, to touch down out wide.
Harris couldn’t convert but Port led 16-14.
In the dying moments, Warilla threw everything at Port but once again, the Blacks defence stood up to the challenge and held them out, securing the team’s second straight win.
For the hosts, Walsh, Kent and skipper Colgan were strong while Port were led by Harris, Josh Michalowski, Kris Sullivan, Jo Maivileko and Mark Simon.
