Group 6 to introduce ladies league tag competition

Steve Hazelton - Southern Highland News

GROUP 6 is excited to announce there will be a local ladies league-tag competition in 2016.

League-tag is a modified version of rugby league.

Players remove a tag from their opponent's hip to signal a tackle.

Several Group 6 Country Rugby League (CRL) clubs have committed to fielding ladies teams this season.

Group 6 hopes other clubs will be able to nominate teams before the season kicks off.

The Camden Rams, City Kangaroos, Oaks Tigers and Thirlmere Roosters have confirmed teams.

The Moss Vale Dragons and Warragamba Wombats are also likely to field sides.

Group 6 hopes a pre-season will allow the organisation to select a Group 6 CRL ladies representative team to play in Batemans Bay on April 23.

It is hoped the new ladies league-tag competition will provide a pathway to higher rep honours.

Players will have an opportunity to be selected into the Greater Southern Stars regional team to play in the Country Championships on May 21 at Kirkham Park, Elderslie.
