Rugby League Growing in the North!

On Monday 8th August Sydney Metro NRL Game Development held the 2016 North Sydney Greg Florimo 7’s, Gary Larson Cup and Jess Palmer Shield. This event involved boys from year 3 to 6 competing in a 7 a side tackle competition and girls from year 3 to 6 competing in a touch football competition.

Played at Montview Oval in Hornsby Heights, schools from the North Sydney region took part on the day with 250 girls participating in touch football and 330 boys playing rugby league. The event doubled in size from 2015 and was a huge success for the North Sydney region.

Congratulations to Willoughby Public School who were crowned the 2016 champions in all four divisions. The senior teams will now progress through to the State Legends Final Day at Macquarie University Sporting Fields on the 24th and 25th August.

Thank you to the teachers, parents and volunteers who gave up their time to organise and coach teams on the day as well as the North Sydney Junior Rugby League who continue to support and endorse events within the North Sydney region. Without your continued support these NRL events would not be possible.

Finally, congratulations to all the children who participated in the true spirit of the game and demonstrated great sportsmanship from the first whistle to the last. It is a great reflection of the primary schools within the North Sydney region.
