Girls Rugby League exploding on the Gold Coast

Today was a great day for female rugby league participation on the Gold Coast. Merrimac High School organised and hosted a GIRLS ONLY gala day which involved students from a number of different high schools across Beenleigh & the Gold Coast.

The day was designed to provide playing opportunities for all abilities. NRL staff provided coaching for girls who had never played before taking them through the skills of the game and preparing them to play against their own ability. Under 15’s & Opens Competition was also offered for those girls who already play or who have had experience playing. Gold Coast Referees assisted the Merrimac SHS students with refereeing throughout the day and first aid was also provided by the NRL.

The NRL would like to thank Dave McColl for making the day a huge success and for his tremendous support of female participation.

Congratulations toBenowa State High School, Tugun JRL, Beenleigh State High School, Upper Coomera College, Keebra Park State High School, Trinity College (Beenleigh) and Merrimac for their enthusiasm, sportsmanship & skills throughout the day.
