Girls showcase skill at SCJRL Prelim Finals

The Falcons team is made up from the club sides from Beerwah & Nambour and the Stingers girls are from Stradbroke Island and Deception Bay JRL. Whislt the girls have played each other in the club competition this year, it meant a lot to them to be able to play rep footy.

Stingers jumped to an early lead but Falcons clawed their way back toward the end of the first half. The half time break couldn't come soon enough for the Stingers girls but to their credit they pulled together as a team and came out firing in the second half with the final score 52-16 to the Stingers girls. Whilst it was a team effort with 7 different players scoring tries, the player of the match was Stingers captain Casey Karklis. All of these girls are stars of the future.

With Girls Rugby League numbers increasing by 20% since 2011, the competition is only set to get bigger and better in coming years.

A huge amount of gratitude must go to Sunshine Coast Falcons for their support of the the girls game in hosting this inaugural event.
