Girls, Girls, Girls

Savannah Connors has played Rugby League for 6 years and because in 2012 she turns 13, she can no longer play with the boys. Thanks to a very supportive committee, Deception Bay Raiders have opened their doors to ALL GIRLS teams in U15’s & U17’s age groups for 2012.

Ipswich & Gold Coast Junior Rugby League have their own girls Rugby League competitions and Brisbane is set to follow suit with teams based out of Stradbroke Island, Logan & Edens Landing. Teams are also emerging from the Sunshine Coast around Caboolture & Beerwah.

In 2012, these girls will have the chance to represent their local league at the QLD State Championships to be held on the Sunshine Coast in July. The girls have already received support and coaching from a number of Australian Women’s Rugby League players and have been inspired by them to continue to enjoy playing the game they love.

Any girls interested in playing Rugby League can come down to training at Deception Bay JRL on Government St on Monday & Wednesday between 6-7pm. Any questions please don’t hesitate to call Female Participation Development Officer Jo Breakspear on 0417 200 182.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
