Girls put on a great game of Rugby League for the Gold Coast

Girls from Nerang Roosters and Jimboomba Thunder came together on Friday Night to put on a great game of League for the spectators.

The girls showed the crowd some hard tackles, fabulous running; great Try scoring but most of all some great sportsmanship before, during and after the game.

Ladies from the Jillaroos (Australian women’s Rugby League team) also came long to give the girls some support. Current Jillaroos’ goal kicker & hooker, Nat Dwyer commented “the standard of league played was tremendous. If these girls continue to play we may see some future Jillaroos and keep us on our toes for our positions.”

Kathryn ARLD Said, “It was a great night and it really show cased how important it is to have women and girls in league from the ladies in the canteen, to the ladies running water, the ladies cheering on the sidelines and of course the girls playing”

“It was also great to see all the boys getting behind the girls and giving them some great support and making the game so successful.”

The Gold Coast Junior Rugby League will be organising a Girls Open competition (14-17yrs) this season.  For more information about the girls competition and ‘Come& Try’ days go to the GCJRL website www.goldcoastjuniorrugbyleague.com.au.
