NSW Southern Country Cup 2015

Country Cup Heats Up!

The Country Cup competition is offered to High Schools in Country NSW regions to provide a truly state wide competition that is more appropriate to their needs and the need of the Rugby League in our localcommunities. The Country Rugby League is well aware of the importance of having High Schools playing Rugby League and introducing new players to this great game.

Round 1 of the Country Cup saw teams from Northern Illawarra Schools come together, with U'13 winners Illawarra Sports High and the ever consistent Holy Spirit College winning both the U'15 and Open divisions. In total there were around 280 students  competing from Northern Illawarra with NRL Game Development Officer James Smart over the moon with the spirit and enjoyment showed by all teams. "It's outstanding to see so many Secondary School students eager to play Rugby League, this isn't our biggest day either, there will be 400 plus students playing in the Southern Illawarra Country Cup on the 11'th March."

Winners of each division will advance to the Regional Finals on Tuesday 28th April, Term 2 at a venue TBA. NRL Game Development staff have put together a highlights clip showcasing some of the talent on show.
