Debra Sellin, 2017 Award Winner
Alex Perry Hotel & Apartments' Women in League offer

A brilliant evening was had by all in celebrating the role of Women in League on Saturday 29 July 2017.  From 13 nominations received, Steve Tierney, Chairman GBJRL Management Committee, announced Debra Sellin, President, Dayboro & Districts JRL, “2017 Female Volunteer of the Year”.

With appreciation to Fordy Towers Villa Amity Point, Straddie Adventure Tours, Stradbroke Is Holidays and Seashells at Amity, as well as Rugby League World Cup for tickets to the Men’s and Women’s Finals games in December, Debbie was all smiles as she received her prizes.

Guest speakers for the evening included David Shillington, former State and Australian representative player and current NRL Ambassador who spoke of his mum’s influence as a junior player and gave insights into his extensive representative football career.  MC Jo Barrett also introduced Heather Ballinger, State representative and current Jillaroo.  Heather’s favourite quote: Anything is possible if you put your mind to it”.

Greater Brisbane Junior Rugby League would like to thank Brad Tallon, SEQ Division Chairman for his role as auctioneer on the evening.  Nearly $3,000 was raised for the event's charity partner, Micah Projects.

Special thanks to our major event sponsors, Brisbane Broncos, Sassi Photography, Hoppy’s Handwash Café, Village Roadshow, Alex Perry Hotel & Apartments and The Caxton Hotel.

Alex Perry Hotel & Apartments continues to recognise the important role of Women in League throughout the month of August with a 20% off accommodation offer for all female volunteers.  See attached.
