Wheelchair Rugby League

Martin Meredith, Chairman of the Australian Wheelchair Rugby League has organised a Public meeting on the Sunshine Coast for Friday 15th January 2016 to seek interest in establishing a Steering Committee for the establishment of a possible Queensland Branch of the AWRL.

The Australian Wheelchair Rugby League is seeking the support of the QRL and the Queensland Sporting Wheelies in conducting this meeting in an effort to correctly formalise a body in Queensland to provide opportunities for Wheelchair bound individuals to participate in Rugby League.

With the ARL/NRL co-hosting the Rugby League World Cup in 2017 with New Zealand and Papua New Guinea, it has been announced that one of the disciplines of this Festival of Rugby League will be the Rugby League Wheelchair World Cup.  With this in mind, it is envisaged that a pathway be created for Queensland Wheelchair athletes to be eligible to participate in this event.

The Public Meeting details are as follows:

Date - Friday 15th January 2016

Time - 6pm

Venue - Caloundra Sharks RLFC, Caloundra

Your involvement is encouraged to get this exciting event under way - what a great opportunity for our Wheelchair athletes in Queensland.  For further information please contact Martin Meredith, Chairman AWRL on Mob: 0413 656769 or Email: mmeredith@nrl.com.au

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
