Incorrect completion of match cards
Already this season we have had reports of some incidents of the incorrect completion of match cards.
The match card is not just something that has names put on it regardless of whether those names are correct or not. It must be correctly completed with the actual jersey number worn listed against each player. If a jersey number is changed after the card is originally completed the card must be altered before the commencement of the match.
The match card is an official record and inaccuracies can have implications for judiciary and, more importantly, for insurance purposes.
It is the League’s responsibility to ensure that match cards are correctly completed. Thus, where incidents are identified of match cards being incorrectly completed, the club concerned will be fined an absolute minimum of $200 for the first offence with significantly higher fines for subsequent offences. These fines may be significantly increased depending on the circumstances of any particular incident.
All clubs are required to immediately ensure compliance with this instruction.
