Six participants acknowledged at Australia Day Awards
Six Central Highlands Rugby League participants have been acknowledged at the Australia Day Awards in the Central Highlands and Isaac regions recently.
Shane Shoesmith (Blackwater Crushers Under 13’s and A-Grade coach), Jared Owens (Springsure Mountain Men captain and 2016 Jim Gallagher medallist), Katrina Taylor (former Emerald Junior Tigers Secretary and current Central Highlands Junior and Senior Rugby League Secretary), Tanya Lambley (former Emerald Brothers Secretary), Angela Renton (current Dysart Junior Bulls Secretary) and Jackie Kalinowsky (former Central Highlands Junior Rugby League Secretary and current Peak Downs Junior Pirates Secretary) were all nominated for their excellence and dedication in sport across the Central Highlands and Isaac Regional Council areas in the last twelve months.
Further to being nominated, Shane Shoesmith and Jared Owens were awarded the 2017 Central Highlands Senior Sports Awards in their respective areas for their sporting achievements, whilst Jackie Kalinowsky was awarded the 2017 Dysart Sports Medallion for her dedication in 2016.
Central Highlands QRL Operations Manager Cameron Stallard says the awards are a testament to the hard work and dedication put into Rugby League by many.
“It’s great to have six dedicated sportspeople acknowledged for their achievements and is a testament to the hard work, dedication and professionalism that they, along with all of our sportspeople, administrators and volunteers, continue to show week-in, week-out” Stallard said.
