Springsure's Mountain of success in 2016
The 2016 season for the Springsure Mountain Men was one filled with determination, courage and success and was celebrated last night at their annual presentation night.
The Mountain Men finished 5th on the ladder, narrowly missing out on their first finals berth in years due to For and Against.
President John Watkins thanked all the hard-working players, coaching staff and volunteers on making the club successful in 2016.
“To all of the volunteers off the field, thank you for volunteering your time this season to make the club as great as it is”, Watkins said.
“To all our players, coaching staff, managers and volunteers on the field, I want to thank you too for making the commitment and turning up each week to play. We were very close to making the finals and I think we have some unfinished business for next season.”
The club reminisced on a few memorable games, particularly the one point win against Tigers in the last ten seconds for the Paul Taylor Memorial Shield but the game most talked about was the one against Clermont in the pouring rain.
The bus trip that should have taken 3 hours, not 3 days will remain a good story for the club to tell in years to come.
The Mountain Men would also like to thank their 2016 sponsors and supporters and are looking forward to the 2017 season.
