Rolfe proud to represent Queensland
The Central Highlands is proud to have yet another representative wear the mighty maroon with Clermont’s Tegan Rolfe set to line-up against New South Wales in the annual Interstate Challenge this weekend.
Rolfe, 28, is set to return to the Queensland Women’s team in jersey 17 tomorrow afternoon after being absent from representing her state and country for nearly three years due to injury.
“I made my Queensland and Australian debut in 2008 and played until I dislocated my shoulder in the 2013 Interstate Challenge,” Rolfe said.
Rolfe has been in camp at the Gold Coast over the last week preparing for this weekend’s game, but getting there was a challenge in itself.
“At home in Clermont we’ve had 160mm of rain which caused a few problems on the roads. The rain in Central Queensland wasn’t the issue however as we actually had to circle around Brisbane for around an hour to wait for the fog to clear.”
Speaking to QRL TV, Rolfe said there has been a huge difference in camp since last attending in 2013.
“I’ve really enjoyed the Queensland camp. I was in camp three years ago and there is a huge difference from then to now. It’s very professional now and everything is running smoothly. It’s been really good.”
Asked about representing Queensland again, Rolfe said pulling the Queensland jersey means everything to her.
“Words can’t describe the passion and pride I have to take the field and make Queensland proud.”
“I am looking forward to getting on the field and smashing the New South Wales team for the 17th year in a row.”
The game kicks off at 3:10pm at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast. You can watch the QRL live stream of the game at www.qrl.com.au/news/2016/07/22/live_stream_women_s_.html.
Alternatively, you can watch a replay of the game on Fox Sports 1, from 6:30pm on Sunday 24th July.
Clermont, Central Highlands and Central Crows representative, Elle Waters, has also been in the Queensland camp at the Gold Coast over the last week as a member of the Queensland Women’s Emerging Squad.
