Storky's Preview: Round 5
There is great action this weekend in the Central Highlands Rugby League.
Bluff travel to Emerald to face the Cowboys tomorrow night and if Bluff come over with their normal team, they will contain the Cowboys.
The Cowboys have been improving every week and have a team of young fellas, including Jesse Hall, who are gaining experience.
Andrew Doyle and Nathan Horn are the experienced players who guide the Cowboys.
If Bluff give them a chance, they’ll take it and run.
Bluff have Peter McLaughlin and Chris Conway to provide their go forward which includes the Byrne brothers in Billy and Ben.
I’m tipping Bluff to win.
Middlemount travel to Clermont to take on the Bears.
It will be a good game as both clubs are in the top four on the table.
The Bears have made a comeback this year and are playing good football.
Dean Williams, Tom Murray and young fella Brodie Barrett have been playing well.
Middlemount have Ryan Hansell and Joel Duffy running the ball around and Jamie Sullivan in the centres.
I’m tipping the Bears to get up in a very close game.
We have a Sunday game at Springsure and the Emerald Tigers are travelling to play the Mountain Men.
This will be a great game as Springsure have recruited well in Ray Ebsworth, Matt Martell, Tom Hewitt and existing players in Ben Kerswell, Jared Owens and the flying Kelbassa boys on the wings, Tom and Kevin.
The Tigers have had two wins from four games and beating Bluff at home is no small effort.
Tigers have young players in Jackson Slack and Tremayne Pita-Robinson who are making their mark and gaining experience each week.
Kyle Mattingley should lead from the front if Dywayne Rigby plays, they will be hard to defeat.
The Mountain Men will have crowd support and I feel it will be a close one with the Mountain Men to get the points.
The Emerald Cowgirls travel to Springsure to play the Emerald Tigers in the lead up game and the Tigers have been playing good football.
Players to note include Maddie Edmonds in the halves, second rowers Miranda Bartley and Charliegh Robinson and the running backs in Kelsie Parter, Arnika Cave and Bonnie Walsh.
The Cowgirls have Springsure’s Denise Chaplain leading up front and Claire Prior, Tayla Bean and Moragn Murphy leading the team out wide.
The Cowgirls are improving but the Tigers girls will get up.
It’s sad to see the Dysart Bulls having to forfeit a home game in both the women’s and men’s.
All clubs go through the rebuilding stage and we need players who would like to give the game a go to head to Dysart and sign up.
Good luck all players this weekend.
