Storky's Preview: Round 3
This week the Dysart Bulls travel to Emerald and all four teams (men’s and women’s) are win-less for the year so far. Who can get up?
I am betting on the Cowboys to win the double.
The Cowgirls play the Dysart Ladies who were well beaten by Clermont last weekend and still may be wounded from the game. Both Cowboys teams have been recruiting and are showing improvement.
Most clubs struggle when they travel but we’ll wait and see tomorrow in Emerald.
The Emerald Tigers travel to Bluff and have plenty of players on the books but last week, there were players out of position so maybe this week they may change back.
If they get the ball out to Isaiah Huet then the Tigers will advance a lot more as last week he didn’t receive the ball and their attack out wide stopped. They have some good young fella’s coming through.
Bluff have Chris Conway, Chris McKay and Peter McLaughlin in their team and they all go forward.
At home, Bluff will be hard to beat and I’m tipping them to win.
Blackwater travel to Clermont in both grades this week.
In the Women’s game, Clermont will have too much strike power for the Crushettes but I think the visitors will cause some pain for the Bears.
The Bears have some quality players and are led by Tegan Rolfe.
The Crushettes could surprise the BEars if they get the early jump and then hang on but I’ll feel the Bear Ladies will win at home.
The Men’s Crushers played good football last week at home and could have the edge on Clermont but the Bears at home are strong and played well last stat to beat the Dysart Bulls away.
The Crushers will travel ok and I feel Crushers will win on the night due to more consistent footy.
Springsure are travelling to Middlemount to play the Allen Johnson Memorial Shield as Allen played for both clubs.
Both team had a win the previous weekend have started with year off well.
Springsure has gained the services of Tommy Hewitt who brings experince to the Mountain Men.
Springsure have recruited well and looks the goods this year.
Matt Travers is up front and with Matt Martell, will have the go forward to then allow Ray Ebsworth and Jared Owens to work wonders with the backline.
Middlemount are always a side to grind away at teams and will do it to teams all this year but I’m tipping Springsure will get up in a hard one.
