Storky's Footy Talk - Round 3

Congratulations to the Central Highlands Men’s and Ladies team for their effort at the 47th Battalion last weekend. The Ladies made the Final and the Men’s team had a big improvement coming fifth overall.

Congratulations to these girl’s on their selection:

Kailah Rogers (Emerald Cowgirls)
Elle Waters (Clermont Bears Ladies)
Tegan Rolfe (Clermont Bears Ladies)
Carly Bell (Clermont Bears Ladies)
Mariah Storch (Blackwater Crushettes)
Cloe Ramsay (Emerald Tigers Ladies)
Kiri Samson (Emerald Tigers Ladies)

Congratulations also to Jason King (Emerald Tigers) for his selection in the Men's Crows team.

This week the CH Comp starts again and it is Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Round. It's great to see the Central Highlands Rugby League supporting this very important issue.

In Emerald we have Blackwater v Tigers at Tigers and the ladies game should be a great game of football as both sides have been equal in the past but Tigers did win the preseason comp. Blackwater will have Mariah Storch back and also sister Peyton playing. Tigers will have their rep players back including Casey Watkins, Cooper Hill and Mariah Rawiri will be leading them around.

In the Men's game, Brad Gorman is back for the Crushers and Ryan Palmer also is in good form. Tigers have Jason King and Isaiah Huet. Good fortune could determine the winner.

Cowboys travel to Clermont which is always a hard game against Clermont at home. Clermont are struggling with a team but they will be hard to defeat. The Cowboys played a high scoring game last week and will need to tighten their defence to get a win. I expect the ladies game will be a good leadup.

Clermont Ladies do have three stand out players who are in the rep team for the Crows but Cowgirls have Kailah Rogers back for their first home game. Cowgirls have enthusiasm at the moment and are looking forward to being at full strength for this game.

Bluff will host Dysart at home and Dysart are travelling quite well this year, but Bluff cruised over Blackwater last week and their big forwards in Billy Byrne and Kelly Conway will keep going. I see the Rabbits had to play last week and Branden Ferguson now playing for Bluff will contribute. Clayton Kilpatrick always has a strong game at hooker and he will show the team around. This should be a good game if the Bulls travel well.

The Springsure Mountain Men will be hosting the Middlemount Panthers this weekend and the Panthers are in good form. Alex Sainsbury has been in good form for the Panthers, but it has been known on a cold Saturday night in Springsure that the Mountain Men can beat any team. The game is the annual Allen Johnson Shield between the two team and is always a good contest.Ben Kerswell has been in good form at fullback.

Can the Mountain Men keep their good start to the year in tact?

It should be a cracking weekend in local footy for Domestic Violence Awareness and Prevention Round. I urge everyone to get down to your local match!
