TIT FOR TAT COMPLAINTS BY BLUES AND PICKERS
By Les Muir
TUMUT and Young have traded official complaints in the wake of the Blues upset victory over the Cherrypickers at Alfred Oval on Sunday.
In a dramatic aftermath, Tumut elected to lodge a formal complaint on Monday alleging a Young player felled Blues ace Dean Bristow with an illegal shoulder charge.
Moving swiftly, Young hit back with a complaint alleging two Tumut players had committed an illegal lifting tackle on a Cherrypickers rival.
The Match Review Committee will now assess both complaints before deciding whether to cite the respective players.
The threat of twin citations is yet another concern for Tumut following Sunday’s 34-26 upset.
Tumut coach Jarrad Teka reported on Monday that Bristow (back), Jacob McGrath (calf), Tamati Ioane (hamstring) and Charles Cribb (back) were all casualties of the game.
“We’ve probably lost two of our best for this week,” Teka said.
Tumut will play Kangaroos in the elimination final at Twickenham on Saturday, with the winner to stay alive for the second week of the finals.
On the plus side, Teka has “finger crossed” powerhouse prop Dan Kilian will be available for the must-win clash with the Wagga team.
