TRY-SCORING WIZARD OUT FOR 4-6 WEEKS
By Les Muir
GUNDAGAI centre Damian Willis has a broken hand and will miss as many as six games for the Tigers.
Willis was hurt in the first half of Gundagai’s 76-12 victory over Cootamundra last Saturday, but played out the entire game.
It was only after his hand swelled that Willis sought treatment and tests revealed the extent of the injury.
Although expected to miss from four to six weeks of football, the powerful centre will be right for the Group Nine finals.
With Willis out of the backline, Noa Fotu has been installed in the centre with rookie Charles Barton returning on the wing.
The loss of Willis is a blow for the Tigers as he is regaled as one of the most damaging centres in the bush.
During a long and distinguished career that started at Junee, Willis has been a try-scoring wizard.
Two weeks ago he scored his 100th try for Gundagai in the game against Tumut and added another three tries in the hollow success against the Bulldogs last week.
