Round 5 Tasmanian Rugby League Results

Round 5 saw a top of the table clash between the Tigers and Storm, with bragging rights as the number 1 southern team up for grabs.

The Storm came out with all guns blazing and after some sloppy play from the Tigers, Mick Evans stormed over for a career first try. Storm continued to increase their lead until the 18th min when the Tigers showed why they were on top of the table to put points on the board.

Errors continued to plague the Tigers with Storm full back Shaun Kober chasing down a certain try for the Tigers and causing a fumble just before the end of the half.

The Tigers regrouped well at half time and worked steadily away to bring the game to within two points. Storm was not to be out done however, with their back line showing some flair late in the second to bring the full time score to 42-30.

Coach Mick hunt was pleased to win a tough game against a good side, Storms best players were T.K Amosa, Shaun Kober and Cole Ikin who all scored two tries a piece.

Best players for the Tigers were Saul Lopa, David Woouleman and Fale Atileo.

In the North of the state the Launceston Warriors played host to the North West Coast Titans with both teams keen for a win after last weekend’s losses. The Titans led by Brett Bently and Dayne Apiti put in an all-round team effort to come away with a hard fought 32 – 16 win. Titans Rhys Weber built steadily on their lead throughout the game by kicking 5 conversions and a penalty.

 

The Warriors threw everything at the Titans throughout the match and were well served by stand out performances from Perry Chancellor, Vena Lolohea and James Erwin
