Active After Schools Program

The Tasmanian Rugby League is pleased to announce that it has formed a partnership with the Federal Government’s After Schools Program and has commenced introducing grass roots Rugby League into Tasmanian Primary Schools.

The program started with a bang 3 weeks ago, at St Teresa's Catholic school in Moonah, with 18 students starting and enjoying our great game. The program is being delivered by the TRL’s Jason Schmidt and will go for 7 weeks.

Local League players Michael Frost and Isaac Anderson will also be delivering the program at Holy Rosary Primary and Windermere Primary School respectively.
They will be joined by Leroy Hart and Michael Smith when more schools are available for the program.
The TRL is thrilled with the support it is receiving from local Clubs in implementing the After Schools Program.
This is the start of a much broader strategy for introducing Rugby League to kids of all ages across the State.
