Rylstone Public win Peachey Shield
Rylstone Public School will play the best rugby league school teams from around the Central West in June after they won the David Peachey Shield in Portland last week.
Rylstone Public School went through the competition undefeated following wins against Lithgow Public School (20-12), Blackheath (32-8), and St Joeys Oberon (24-12).
They defeated one of the two teams from Kandos Public School in the semi-final, 20-16.
In the final, they played Wallerawang; Wallerawang were also a side that progressed to the final undefeated.
The final was tight all the way through but Rylstone got the prize at the end, winning 20-16.
Student Eddie Mann was named man of the match in the final.
The team had a mixture of players who play league and rugby.
Rylstone Public School will play in the regional final against winners and runners-up from the other competitions in the Central West.
In the Richardson Shield for years three and four students, St Joeys Oberon won the final 12-8 over Cooerwull.
Kandos and Rylstone entered teams in the shield but were unsuccessful in making the semi-finals.
The regional finals of the Peachey Shield and the Richardson Shield will be on Wednesday, June 27, in Dubbo.
