Rugby League competition began today

The 'Bank of Cook Islands ' National Stadium was abuzz with the excitement of team sport today, as Rugby League matches began.

Team Manager, Mesake Navugona said that they were pleased with the favourable conditions. " We found the weather and ground condition well suited for our sport today". 

The team played 3 matches, and it was difficult adapting to the new envionment. After the  second match the team regrouped from the loss and got their game play in place for the last pool game.

"There are a few injuries which we hope, after the Doctors evaluation, will be cleared to play tommorrow,"said Navugona.

The competiton was not that tough with only four teams participating, but overall the level of skills, fitness and discipline was something to be appreciated.

Navugona said that the team is looking forward to tomorrow (Tuesday 29th) where they will compete against Tonga in the finals and they are positive that they will bring the Gold medal home.

RESULTS from Fiji's encounters were as follows:
12.55pm vs Cook Islands - 26-18 WON
1.55pm vs Tonga - 20 -24 LOST
3.55pm vs Samoa - 20 20 DRAW
