PyeongChang 2018: The IPC Academy Campus is Set to Begin

March 1st, 2018

The IPC Academy Campus will include the popular IPC Observers’ Programme which is set to include 13 days of action and a total of 54 different activities for Event Organisers, as well as the IPC Games Experience Programme and the IPC Academy Cocktail Reception on 15 March.

“The IPC Academy Campus is an integral part of any Paralympic Games and helps share knowledge of organising major events among a number of key stakeholders,” said Andrew Parsons, IPC President.

“We look forward to welcoming every delegate on these programmes which include the IPC Observers’ Programme for future OCOGs and other event organisers, and the IPC Games Experience Programme for senior government representatives and host organisers, as well as their partners within the supply chain of major event delivery. Each of these programmes provides unique learning opportunities and it is within this context that we have created the IPC Academy Campus 2018 for us all to learn and share experiences throughout these Paralympic Winter Games.”

Chris Solly, Director of the IPC Academy, says: “The IPC Academy is constantly striving to further enhance the content and quality of the IPC Academy Campus Programme using modern and proven educational methods in each new edition. Based on the success of the previous IPC Observers’ Programmes and the valuable experiences gained in all these past editions, we have designed the current edition of the IPC Observers’ Programme for PyeongChang 2018 to incorporate a wider variety of themes. Different types of Programme Activities will ensure that diverse individual needs will be met and that benefits of observation will be maximised.”

Throughout the IPC Observers’ Programme, the invaluable insights of the PyeongChang 2018 Managers in charge of planning and delivering the Paralympic Winter Games, will be combined with the expertise of many IPC senior staff members and advisors who have worked in previous Games to provide an educational perspective that is both holistic and memorable.

Meanwhile, running alongside the IPC Observers’ Programme, the IPC Games Experience Programme will cover the learning needs of the Executive level delegates of future Host Cities and 2026 Interested Cities, while a special learning stream has been set up for marketing partners. The IPC Games Experience Programme will combine various elements: Paralympic Event Experience; Hospitality; and Learning (both theoretical and empirical, including guided venue visits).
