Table tennis is a very competitive sport and every participant from each country proved that during their matches as they played hard but fair.
The women’s team of New Caledonia played hard against Papua New Guinea and won with a score of 4-1.
Hosts, Vanuatu took on Tuvalu and defeating them with a 5-0 win.
Fiji also defeated Solomon with a 5-0 winthen took on New Caledonia in a tough match with ended with a 1-4 result in favor of Fiji.
Papua New Guinea finally claimed a win with a 4-0 score against Tuvalu.
In the men’s category, Fiji defeated Papua New Guinea 3-2, Tuvalu lost to Vanuatu 5-0 and Vanuatu defeated Papua New Guinea 5-0.
Each country participated and did their best to compete which earned cheers and applause from the crowd.
Para table tennis players were also present during matches as part of their preparation towards their competition which will start on Thursday.
The big story of the day from a local perspective was the win by the Vanuatu Men. This is the first time Vanuatu has defeated New Caledonia at a Pacific Games level – ever!
With the Women dominating their Teams competition, it all looks very good for Vanuatu’s medal prospects.
