Ba celebrates 80

AUCKLAND, 04 NOVEMBER 2015 (OFC) --- Thousands of fans gathered around the streets of Ba, Fiji on Saturday as the Ba Football Club celebrated their 80th year of existence, along with their 2015 Inter District Championship victory.

The Ba Town Council and Chamber of Commerce jointly organised the celebration, which included a street parade, speeches by special guests and the launch of a Ba Football Association book celebrating their history.

Organising committee chairperson Anil Amin says the IDC success – which saw Ba beat Nadi 2-0 in the final in October – capped off a big year for football in the district.

"This victory adds flavour to the 80th anniversary celebrations for Ba Football Club,” Amin says.

“On top of that we had the Ba U-12 team win the Inter Primary Championship and Xavier College win the zonal event, so the district has achieved a lot of success this year.”

Meanwhile Ba Football Association secretary Iliyaz Khan also took time to pay tribute to the players and team officials responsible for winning Ba’s 24th IDC title.

“I would like to thank my president, board members, my players and officials for working tirelessly towards the IDC,” Khan says.
