SUVA, 18 NOVEMBER 2015 ( FIJI TIMES) ----- If plans materialise, Fiji Bati will be world champions in rugby league by year 2025.
New chief executive Timoci Naleba revealed FNRL's long term plans Tuesday.
Naleba said Fiji Bati should reach world number one status by 2025.
"By 2025 is world number one. We are already world number four, without any proper structure. Imagine if we have a proper structure, we can do it," he said.
Fiji Bati is sixth in the official ranking on Rugby League International Federation.
Naleba said important changes were in the pipeline to improve the Fiji Bati brand and level of rugby league in the country.
"The challenges will always be there," he said.
"What I need is support from the clubs.
"To start, they will have to accept the changes that are coming in. For so long this house has been like this. If we want to change our result, we have to change what we are doing now. If we want to have more local boys in the team, we have to change the way we play, the way we train and the way we perceive things.
"We are actually funded by organisations but it doesn't mean we can't be self-sustainable. That's the ultimate goal. It will require the commitment of clubs," Naleba said.
