The scores of last nights bouts are in no way indicative of the hard fought battles that took place in the National Auditorium in front of a huge crowd. Athletes came to cheer on their team mates as they bravely took the ring - and they were not disappointed as all the boxers showed courage and determination up till the last moment of their bout. The most exciting bouts were fought by the local boys. Osolai Akai displayed excellent skills and came within 1 point of his opponent in the second round. The crowd went frantic as the electronic scoreboard posted a 5:6 score in favour of the Tahitian Puaiura Taaroa. Eventually the Tahitian won, but a very well competed bout by Osolai. In the final bout of the evening, Cook Islander Vengi Hagai meant business from the first bell and never let his lead slip throughout the match. A well earned win for the Cook Islands...congradulations
