Para-Athletes in Santo prepare for the Pacific Mini Games

Para-Athletes from the Sanma Frangipani Association who are based on the northern Vanuatu island of Santo, were taken through a week of both sports training and education on nutrition and fitness by Jessica Richardson, the Disability Inclusion Officer at VASANOC, who conducted the one week training camp with the athletes in preparation for Van2017 in December.

With the support of the athletes coach, Doriane Naliupis, and the Vanuatu Paralympic Committee, Richardson is supporting athletes in building a foundation of dedication, respect and excellence for their ongoing training in the build-up to the Games and looking further ahead to the 2018 Commonwealth Games to be held in Australia in April.

Excitement was high in camp due in no small part to the provision of new equipment for the athletes to train with.

The potential for success in the Pacific Mini Games in December is high and the athletes are excited to build on what they have learnt in the lead up to the major event.
