From Wednesday 17th to Friday 19th September 2014 will take place the first National Youth Games in Vanuatu. The event will take place at Korman Stadium in Vila. More than 50 athletes from Shefa, Penama and Tafea will compete during this time.The initiative of these Games has been take by VASANOC in collaboration with the Department of Youth and Sport of Vanuatu.


The National Youth Games should be held every year between the best youths athletes coming from all the provinces of Vanuatu. For the first edition this year, athletes will compete only in athletics. However the competition shall extend to other sports toward Vanuatu Pacific Mini Games 2017 and beyond.


Objectives and missions of the National Youth Games are multiple :


  • To promote a unique, friendly world-class competition and Games and to develop sport for the benefit of the Youths of Vanuatu, the provinces and all the communities of the nation.


  • To encourage and assist sport and to promote the shared values of Olympism, integrity, fair play, competence, commitment to excellence, respect for gender equality and tolerance, including the fight against the use in sport of drugs and of unhealthy or performance enhancing substances.


  • To facilitate selection and development of sport talent from grassroots level towards international participation.


  • To stimulate sport infrastructure development in all provinces
