For this first international tournament host in Vila, the both Vanuatu teams (men and women) played valiantly. Vanuatu Women won the bronze medal while New Zealand  won the tournament and Fiji Took the 2nd place. It was Vanuatu Women's first hockey medal from any competition and it was well deserved as they have developed every game and excited the local supporter.

As for Vanuatu boys, Unfortunately Fiji took better control of the match in the 2nd third (4-3) , in an intensive game where both teams could have won.

In final New Zealand beat Australia 5-3.

A highlight was the participation of 14 year old Donald Aru of Vanuatu Men, who had played his first games again New Zealand. At the 32nd minute of this Games he took advantage of a loose ball and on the second attempt hit the ball past the NZ keeper much to the huge delight of all spectators irrespective of whom they were supporting.  It was a great time for a promising player.
