TASANOC Secretary General gets a place for MEMOS Program 2012/13

The Tonga Sports Association and National Olympic Committee (TASANOC) has been confirmed the acceptance of Mr Takitoa Taumoepeau, Secretary General as one of the participation for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) XVI MEMOS program for 2012-2013. The IOC MEMOS program is the advance study in Sports Administration with each candidate attending the four modules and an approved project towards to end of the program.


According to Mr Taumoepeau, the MEMOS program is a dream of every Sports Administrator because of its high academic quality and supporting staff. He added that the IOC was also considering those NOC’s who have not yet had a participant in previous program and this is the first time for Tonga to have a participant.


Takitoa also said that this is a challenging program and wishes to complete the project which will not only for the benefit of the NOC’s but also to fellow members (National Federations) which he is intending to work with during the time of his research and finding in his project.


Takitoa’s project will be based on village basketball “netball” which has an impact on the phenomenon of Women in Sports. Takitoa finished by crediting Mr Brian Minikin and Dr Leigh Robinson for their support and assistance in his continuing strive and work towards improving the performance and service delivery of the Tonga NOC.
