Highlight on Team Tonga for SPMG at Rarotonga.

Tonga send 8 team to Cook Island for Mini Game. The Sports were Athletics, Tennis, Table Tennis, Netball, Rugby League, Rugby Union, Triathlon and Weightlifting. The Team Tonga comprises of 87 participants including 68 Athletes, 14 team Officials and 5 Team Management. 

The Opening ceremony was held on Monday 21st September. The teams march at the Opening with Ms. `Ana Pouhila the flag bearer.

Tonga first Gold metal was `Ana Pouhila on Discuss Throw by breaking the record. `Ana also came first on the Hammer Throw and Discuss Throw. `Inoke Finau also won a Gold on the Men 110m Hurdle, with a Total of 4 Gold.

On the Silver metal was Latai Sikuvea on the women 100m, Vasi Feke on 100m hurdle, Heamatangi Tu`ivai on 400m hurdle, Women relay 4 x 100 m, Men Relay on 4x100m, Men Relay on 4x400m and `Ilainiume Finau on Weightlifting with 3 silver, Totaling 9 Silver.

On the Bronze metal was Vasi Feke on the women 100m and 400m hurdle, `Esau Vakameilalo on men long Jump, Rugby Union 7s, Maamaloa Lolohea on Weightlifting won 2 Bronze on on Clean & Jerk and snatch, Total of 6 Bronze.

The Netball team became 5th place, Rugby League became 4th. On Table Tennis only `Eseta Vi went to Quarter Final in women single competition. On Tennis, Liua Feke came up in semi final on men single. On Triathlon, swim 1.5km, cycle 40km, 10km run, `Alo fe`iloakitau became 8th place, For women Marie Fakatene became 8th place.

Team Tonga return home and a reception was held at the Loumaile Lodge to honor athlete who represented Tonga on the Mini Game in Cook Island. TASA also give out a prizes for those who got metal, this is just to encourage them tp do better in the future.
