Cook Islands visit school in Rio

The duo, who will be participating in canoe slalom events at the games which starts on the coming Friday, were invited to the Mable Bear Elementary School alongside team physio Paul Aitu.

Ella and Bryden, who are doctors by profession, shared their success stories about their Road to Rio campaign with the students of the school.

Four Team Cook Islands athletes have already arrived into the Olympic Games Village.

They include the Nicholas siblings and sailors Taua Elisa Henry and Teau McKenzie.

The four have been trying out the waters in their respective sporting venues.

The other members of Team Cook Islands include Patricia Taea (100m) and Alex Beddoes (800m) from athletics, Tracy Keith-Matchitt (100m freestyle) and Wesley Roberts (1500m freestyle) from swimming and Luisa Peters (75kg +) from weightlifting.

Chef de mission Robert Graham had earlier said all athletes would be in Rio by this weekend.

Meanwhile the chefs de mission from the Pacific had a meeting during dinner on Thursday (CI time) to discuss various topics regarding their stay in the Games Village.

Graham and the other team heads from around the world were scheduled to attend an official chefs de mission meeting yesterday.
