Fiji Games Update

Basketball: The Basketball 3 x 3 competitions begins today. Basketball Fiji is very happy with the turn out with twelve teams travelling from the West to compete. The competition will commence at about midday and is expected to go into the evening.

Powerlifting: Today is the first and only day of the Powerlifting competition, with 5 women and 21 men are competing. The women have completed their 3rd squats and the men are currently completing their 2nd of 3 squats. The afternoon will feature the bench press and dead lift, with competition expected to finish about 4-5pm.

Squash: Today is the third and final day of Squash competition, with most team events already competed. The single events will commence this afternoon, with the men’s final expected to commence at 6pm. The medal ceremony will be completed following the men’s final. There are a total of 33 players competing, including 10 women and 23 men.  Due to the high number of competitors the athletes are playing the best of 3 instead of the traditional best of 5.

Darts: Today is the second day of competition, with the medal ceremony taking place tomorrow afternoon. The men’s doubles are currently underway. This afternoon will feature the women’s singles followed by the men’s singles competition. There are a total of 30 entrants, including 8 women and 22 men.

Billiards and Snooker: The Billards and Snooker events are in their third day of competition, with the first day featuring billiards, second day 15 red, and today is the team event. Tomorrow will feature the 6 red snooker event and be the final day of competition. The medal ceremony for all events is excepted to take place at 2pm tomorrow.

Badminton: Today is the first day of the Badminton events. The women’s and men’s singles are currently underway. This afternoon will feature the double’s event. Badminton are happy with the turn out with a total of 58 individuals competing, including 20 women and 38 men. The medal ceremony for all events is expected to take place at 3pm tomorrow.

Baseball and Softball: Today is the only day of competition for Baseball and Softball. A total of 3 women’s teams will compete in Softball and 4 men’s teams will compete in Baseball. The medal ceremony is expected to take place at 4:30pm this afternoon.
