FASANOC Supportive Of Upskilled Sports Administrators

FASANOC will host participants from different National Federations (NFs) and stakeholder organizations for the Managing Olympic Sport Organisation (MOSO) course of the Oceania Sports Education Program (OSEP), which starts in Suva today (24/05/2017).

FASANOC is supportive of the course which is expected to enhance skills and advance sports administration knowledge of the participants, most of whom are practicing sports administrators.  The MOSO is being hosted by FASANOC for the first time and has been named Fiji MOSO 1.

This course is designed to help national sports administrators acquire the skills necessary to improve  and manage their sporting environments and also to up skill NF administrators so that athletes are supported with efficient and professional delivery of sports programs.

Areas that will be addressed during the course include Managing Strategically, Organizing an Olympic Sport Organization, Managing Marketing, Organizing a Major Sport Event, Managing Finance and Managing Human Resources.   All topics are key areas in the performance of a sports organization.

The MOSO Course will be conducted over six sessions with the first starting today at Fiji Olympic House.

The unit Managing Strategically will be the main focus for OSEP over the four day training at FASANOC from Wednesday to Friday with all units being held between May and November, 2017. 

Participants at the four day course include Angela Birch (Karate Fiji), Fesaitu Mario (Athletics Fiji), Sale Sorovaki (Fiji Rugby Union), Eleina Macdonald, John Pickering and Elena Bulou Rabuka (Fiji Sport Council) Sharlene Wong and Makelesi Batimala (FASANOC), Joji Liga (Fiji National Sports Commission), Lemeki Dauba, Aseri Tabuawaiwai, Jikoibau Matawalu (OSEP Regional Master Educator) , Sitiveni Rokoro (Ministry of Youth & Sports) and Tirahni Uluinakauvadra (OSEP/Oceania Rugby).

Managing Strategically is being presented and facilitated by OSEP Mentors Sainimili Saukuru and Talemo Waqa.  OSEP is a training initiative of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC) and Fiji MOSO 1 is being jointly funded by ONOC and IOC Olympic Solidarity.
