Athletes & Officials bound for the Gold Coast

Athletes and coaches from the sports of Athletics, Beach Volleyball, Boxing and Swimming depart this weekend for a week long comprehensive Training Camp based at the Runaway Super Sports Centre located on the Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.

This is the second Camp that Fiji will participate in and is an initiative of the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) and the Grirfith University, Gold Coast campus.  The aim of the Camp is to provide Sports Science and Coaching expertise to both athletes and their coaches in a build-up towards the 2018 Gold Coast Commonnwealth Games.  Assistance on the ground is provided by the hosts with FASANOC assisting with airfares and a contribution towards accommodation.

Topics to be covered include athlete screening, recovery, mental training plus training sessions and mini compeitions. 

Camp 2 will be led by Sports Educator Lemeki Savua with the team comprising of
12 in all.
