Team Fiji Rugby & Weightlifting Scoop Four Awards

Team Fiji Rugby & Weightlifting scooped four awards at the 2016 Fiji Sports Awards, to cap of a memorable 2016 year which ended with Fiji first ever Olympic Gold medal.

Guest speaker Osea Kolinisau was awarded the Sportsman of the Year, Ben Ryan, the Coach of the Year, Trainer of the Year; Nacani Cawanibuka, the Technical Official of the Year, and the Fiji 7s team-Vodafone Fiji sponsored in the World Rugby Sevens Series, the Team of the Year.

Fiji Weightlifting scooped the Young Male Athlete award which went to Sitiveni Timi, Sikeli Tuinamuana received the Administrator of Year award, Adi Nacola won the Photograph of the Year and the Organisation of the Year award.

Kolinisau and Fiji Table Tennis Association's Paralympian, Merewalesi Roden were named the 2016 Fiji Sportsman of the Year and the Fiji Sportswoman of the Year.

Other winners included Team Fiji Table Tennis rep and Olympian Sally Yee won the Young Female of the Year award and Volunteer of the Year went to Volleyball's Mereia Belo.

Kolinisau said to be a champion, athletes had to dedicate to the task ahead, sacrifice, and be humble.
